We are Many Response

The poem suggests the writer wants to be like a cowboy. He likes all the macho stuff that men like. There seems to be some sort of hero worship. I don’t think the translation does any justice for this poet. The goggle word is probably not appropriate. I think it is more like respect and honor in looking at cowboys. The old way of riding a horse, the roundup, and the sidearm is physically demanding. There is some solace in enjoying the outdoors in the wide open spaces. A cowboy is usually tough, rough, strong, and daring. The old west must have been a rough and rowdy place, but the atmosphere would seem intriguing. The words are adequate, but they are not what were originally intended. The writer seems to be speaking about many men, but he relates to himself a lot. The relationships are between men and their heroes, even though we can’t all be heroes. I have some heroes that I admire like John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and Audie Murphy. They were tough, courageous, and active in movies and the military.
